Has anyone done this ?
I just picked up a 79 g10 and
I think I want to convert it.

should be similar to the one I had on my truck. it wasn't too bad to install. might have to turn the stick around so it isn't too far behind the seat.

It is simple to do, add an appropriate shifter and cut the hole in the floor ...The shifter will be back from the seat a bit so you may need to manufacture brackets and arms to move it up....

I would also consider a 4 speed or maybe even a 5 speed to give you better mileage with an o/d gear

They are also very simple to adjust the column shift. You first adjust the linkages at the trans, then you loosen a couple bolts on your steering column sleeve. Its on the outside of the firewall. There's a sleeve that has angled slots. When you loosen those bolts, you can turn that sleeve to adjust the slack out of the system.
