Does anybody know why this taillight lens, off my van, has been supplied with a separate small ornamental lens? The round lens illuminates off the regular light bulb. Was this a custom van feature, or something else? I don't have a clue and I hope this is not a "dumb" question.... Thanks!

That is a "blue dot" aftermarket accessory. It makes your taillights look purple. It is illegal in some states (I know it is in mine). It also can make the taillight obnoxiously bright. Use them with caution.

Windows- they're what make a van worth owning!

I had them on my old Ford as well and they do illuminate the light a bit more as well as make it purple ish. The brighter the better so people stop is my opinion. They were illegal in CT so I had to remove them. Bikers usually use them to brighten the stop light.

They originated in Southern CA. in the 50's. They were supposed to be easier to see in the fog at night. I got them on my 90 Chev.

I found a set at a truck stop in PA one time and put them on my 82 Chevy step side pickup. The lens had circles molded in like your tail lights making them perfect for a hole saw. I'd like to get some more of them, but probably not worth the headache with the law.

The original ones were glass...Now a days they are plastic...displaying a red and blue light together is illegal in most jurisdictions if they happen to match what Police use...

Covering them with Black tape on the road between shows makes them legal on the road
