I have a cook out to go to sometime this weekend but not sure yet when it is. Plenty of good fishin and kayakin. It would make a nice little road trip for ya too. I'll shoot ya a message. 77 Dodge Tradesman 100 02 GMC Safari panel 75 Chevy G20 Shenandoah Valley Vans Southeast Van Council

I've been a little under the weather the past few days, so I haven't been altogether myself. I've been picking up a roll here and a roll there of this stuff for sound deadening at Lowes. Snagged some of this at the local parts house the other day. Going to use it for now, then eventually the plan is for a no window slider door, and have the rear pop-outs professionally tinted super dark. Got the head unit all wired up. Found that my "missing" 12V constant was due to a blown horn fuse. it's still just temp mounted for the moment. I need to make an overhead console to house the component speakers in. Trying to source some blue carpet to floor this beast with. Not having any luck with that so far. Also looking for a good deal on some Cragars or Slots. No luck there either. | | | Re: Stinky Scott's first van! 91 G10 | Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 2,290 Likes: 137 veteran | OP veteran Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 2,290 Likes: 137 | Still haven't found time to really get into this thing and accomplish much yet. I drove it about 200 miles yesterday on a trip to the Veteran's Hospital in Salem, VA. Trans seemed a little funky a couple of times, late shifts, so I'll check that out soon. Stopped at a Goodwill store along the way and picked up some stuff for it while I was out and about. Picked up these old SounDesign home speaker cabinets for $2. Changed my mind on the overhead console, so I will be mounting the component speakers in these and placing them behind the driver and passenger seat. I picked up some Philips home speaker boxes for $3 to use as temp tunes until I get the old ones converted with my component speakers. The Philips ones actually sound amazing for home speaker boxes. I was really surprised. I also bought these old Cal Custom window cranks and door handles off eBay, but they don't clip on like the factory handles do. Instead, they use set screws. I can see the set screws messing up the teeth of the actuators, so I'm going to hold off using these until I find a better way to mount them. Anyone else running this style handle on a GM vehicle and have any input? | | | Re: Stinky Scott's first van! 91 G10 | Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 907 old hand | old hand Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 907 | Great score man! I did the same thing with the home speakers in my rides before. Can you grind the set screw tips into a point so they fit between the teeth on the gears?

Also, the teeth on the handles didn't fit the factory mechanisms, so I had to drill those out, necessitating the extra set screws... | | | Re: Stinky Scott's first van! 91 G10 | Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 1,719 veteran | veteran Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 1,719 | The set screw cranks are prolly for a Dodge

Looks good! Wouldn't be too hard to swap in a v8 in the future if you wanted. | | | Re: Stinky Scott's first van! 91 G10 | Joined: Oct 2012 Posts: 206 enthusiast | enthusiast Joined: Oct 2012 Posts: 206 | Wow, that's one long clean looking van!
