Does any one have any more info on Vantastic by Hop Cap Inc.,of Bremen, Indiana. I've posted what little I've found on line. I am wondering how many Ford, Dodge/Plymouth, Chevy/GMC where ordered and made it to road before the shut the doors in 1980. I've only seen a few of these tricked-out vans on-line or for sale.

one of a host of RV manufacturers in the region along the Indiana/Michigan border, began making fiberglass pickup caps, and expanded into van conversions and motor homes.

1973-77 Chevy Vans you could order a custom van of your dreams, complete with shag carpet and side pipe exhaust. From a company called "Van-Tastic" owned by Hop Cap Inc. All in the comfort of your new Chevrolet Dealership.

The van movement finally faded, and with it Hop Cap, which closed in 1980. By the mid-eighties, the van of choice was a Dodge Caravan, the darling of soccer moms and football dads. You can still buy a conversion van, but they're for adults now. The kids drive tricked-out Honda Civics. mad

I wasn't even a teenager yet in the 70's but that would have been cool to pick out what you wanted for your van. I like looking at the old photos of car lots full of tricked out vans.

My van is a Hop Cap. If you do a search on ebay, you will see that a lot of them had similar paint jobs, always the stripe around the hood and back the sides, shag carpet and portholes. I also have a few emblems and license plate.
