Do any of the numbers on the window vin give a clue ? As soon as i get the vin# I'll be able to run it but I am looking at a 95 1/2 G30 in the next couple days and just curious if there are any visual differences. Add says its a 350 4 bold main. tks | | | Re: Engine Size | Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 1,578 Likes: 2 veteran | veteran Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 1,578 Likes: 2 | On the back left side of the block (sitting in the driver seat) by the transmission there will be a stamp on it saying engine displacement size, the 305 will say 5.0 L the 350 will say 5.7 L, not sure off hand what the 454 numbers convert to. I do believe all trucks and vans come with 4 bolt mains. The engine size is definitely in the vin so if you google GM vin codes you will find a site that breaks it down for you but they vary from year to year. As far as a 454 you will see that right away they're huge and have more than 4 valve cover bolts.

I know ny g2500 vandura has one. | | | Re: Engine Size | Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 1,086 old hand | OP old hand Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 1,086 | it checked out as a 350. It was a new "rebuilt" and i didn't want to rely on the just the tags. getting the vin # tomorrow so i'll get the skinny. comes with a no rust no winder side slider door as well. Roof...van...Roof...van, Huuuum. Maybe I'll just buy the wife an umbrella. | | | Re: Engine Size | Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 969 Likes: 1 old hand | old hand Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 969 Likes: 1 | Can also break down the vin at lmctruck.com. Go to read catalogue and within the first 30 pages will have a complete breakdown of the vin. You'll find everything you need to know from engine size, transmission, actual year, build date, build location and build number sequence. Unless there had been any other work done by say conversion company or motor swap but that's not very likely. Here's a link, http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/vn/t.aspx?Page=24As for the difference between 350 and 305, visually is no difference other than the stamping on the block. The 454 has large valve covers, for off-the-bat visual difference. Oh and 454 comes out to 7.4 liters.
Gone vannin' I'll call you later.
