I was really torn cutting into my core support though. We have a saying we used to say while in Tilesetting. "It ain't pretty, but it's done!"

I found the cold air snorkel had fallen off and it was pulling in underhood air.
MY stock CAI has a little blocking plate, I assume to keep it from ingesting water at speed during a heavy rain.
My K&N filter found the circular file after I noticed a film of fine dust in the throttle body. Went back to paper for a clean TB. My engine rarely sees over 3000 rpm, I see no benefit for a less restrictive filter on a fuel injected engine, just more wear as fine particles get past it and score the cylinder walls and bearings.
I'm wary of all well marketed automotive products. Lucas products especially. Oil stabilizer, what a joke. Additive diluter gorilla snot cold start lifter ticker junk. | | | Re: 1991 Dodge 5.2 (318ci) up grades | Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 12,107 Likes: 37 Maniac | Maniac Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 12,107 Likes: 37 | Nearly all aftermarket "improvement" products are snake oil. K&N is overpriced nonsense and I never use any additives of any sort.

Hey Uncle Fester, I have my stock CAI tube from my '94, yours if you need it, if it'll fit. Hit me up. Guys? Thinking back, way back, I guess we started using the oiled foam filters when we built bikes and stuff 'cause it was cheap, worked well, and it fit. I reckon that I just stuck with the K&N's from that experience. It's a relatively inexpensive mod. When I was still out on the jobs, they weren't close. I would have to change my oil every 3 weeks, so for me, that would be a new filter every 3 months, if they would last that long. Thinking now I could go back, so Thanks! wrcsixeight I'll keep an eye on that for sure. I can see how a oiled element filter might do that too. Also heard they might gum up the IAT sensors, but I never had any problems. Fram ExtraGuardz? So, for my application I just wanted to pack as much air as I could in there, and, it was fairly easy to do too! With a 8500LB GVWR versus only 230HP, I just wanted a little help going uphill. Ha!

It all depends on what you want to do with it. Putting smaller rear tires on it will give you more torque with out doing any real mods. Rule of thumb, headers 15% increase, 4 vs 2 bbl carb 15% increase, cam 20-25% depending on lift and duration. | | | Re: 1991 Dodge 5.2 (318ci) up grades | Joined: Sep 2013 Posts: 161 member | member Joined: Sep 2013 Posts: 161 | Maybe a PVC version of that set up would be more ideal for a slight improvement. Can you feel improvement in power. Can you hear more airflow? I like she idea wedgy. Simple.

Problems here: Smaller tires also increase hiway rpm, where I drive the most, Headers, no good, they piss off a OBD1 system from what I have heard, My van is a TBI, so no carb upgrade, Cam, not many are offered for OBD1, mostly stock grinds available. I am learning that OBD1 engines SUCK to hop up ! Lol

The TBI system was really very rudimentary as far as fuel injection went. Remember that it only lasted a few years as a bandaid between carbs and true multipoint injection. I have heard that the 90s era TBI systems were a little better than the 88-89 years and that there is a little more aftermarket support for the 90-91 TBI stuff, but it might be getting hard (and expensive) to find performance parts for it.
Maybe get a hold of some old Mopar Performance catalogs and see if they had a factory racing computer or performance computer.
