Thanks for your reply Wookee...
Cool, I can swop out the doors. Thats one job ticked off the list.. :-)
Fenders welded in... OK, Maybe I'd be better off buying a new pattern fender from a US supplier then. Cool... second job ticked off the list...
The repairs needed on my firewall comes to the fore now... My problem started with the drain plugs on the well under the windscreen got plugged with leaves and it eventually rusted through, so bad in fact that I can see through to the back side of the dashboard in places... Also the sub structure that supports the hood is also destroyed with rust and is no longer viable. All of this would need to be custom fabricated... I was running with three options, Well four options if you consider the "WALKING AWAY option" :-).
1. Weld in patches. - This would be fine but for a lot of compound curves that I dont have the equipment to fabricate... It could be done, but would take a lot of time & effort.
2. Replace firewall. - Cut firewall out of donor vehicle and weld into my own. Again, not a small task, but at lease I would know that everything should line up and look right when done...
3. Replace the entire cab. - Completely remove the cab from my coachmen and replace it with donor G30 cab!
So I'm looking at a donor G20 that looks to be in good shape, but I am hesitant to buy it until I know for sure that its going to work. Afterall its structural and would require significant jigging up to make everything right...
Thoughts?
Keep in mind, this camper has been in the family almost 20 years and holds a lot of sentimental value, so the option 4 (walking away) is the very last resort...
thanks guys,
