Hi All.
After digging my Dodge Van out of the weeds and started to bring her back, I noticed that my horns no longer work??

Does anyone have the wiring diagram on this Dodge to share?
What I am not understanding is, I have the two wires up going To the horns on the drivers side. Then a pigtail and two more green wires going across to the passenger side.

I have one wire (forget which one now?) that is Hot with the key on. I could be real wrong here but I don't see or hear a horn relay. If I take those two wires, that I cleaned up the contacts on, hook it to the drivers side horn, it will honk.
After testing the horns, I know that passenger side does Not work, Drivers side does.
This to me means that the one wire is hot with the key on, the other wire (Here we go with the Assumption on my part) is the ground wire that makes contact once the horn button is pushed.

For one of my boats, I had gotten a set of crap Harbor Freight horns that I used to try to hook up.
This is were things weird out on me a little.
I can hook up the low horn, beep, then I can hook up the high horn, beep, but I hook up both horns, Nothing.
Its like I don't have enough amperage to honk both..
I am so confused ;-)
Oh, I did find my Ahooga horn to use, but with not knowing how this is wired, not wanting to try smoke testing things. eek

Oh, forgot. I have the Chilton manual but that is about worthless yet again when I needed it.

Personally, I would just get a new horn and do all the wiring. I have a 76 also and my factory horn does work but sounds like crap. I recently installed a Harbor freight set of air horns plus wiring and horn button directly to battery (fused and relayed) and it works and sounds fantastic.

Nice Van, Nice Color too smile

Did you add a horn button or use the existing horn ring/button, whatever the call the thing you mash down to honk the horn smile

I was thinking of doing something like that, extra button for the Ahooga horn.

No relay.

The horn button on the steering wheel completes the ground for the horn circuit. The ground wire is dark green w/white tracer.

The power feed wire is light green w/black tracer and should be hot when you turn the key on.

If the horn works with a direct ground, then it seems to me the horn button at the steering wheel isn't making good contact.

You don't need to remove the steering wheel..just remove the horn pad. I believe there's a ring under there the ground wire connects to.

I hooked my horn up to the squirter connection on my wiper switch. I have no squirters and the wiring was under the hood for the pump so I press my wiper switch and get a horn. I took a horm from a Saturn my nephew blew up which sounded alot better than the stock one.

Boy, I hate getting old. I remember that is up on the upper side now, but isn't there a little button with a spring in it that rides on a ring inside the steering column to make constant contact for the horn ?
I used to work in my dads wrecking yard and pulled way too many apart over the years to really remember.

I also have a issue when you lift the turn signal up for a right turn, it will not stay up, you have to hold it. I was hoping to find some used parts to repair it.

Again, More than thanks for your help !!!

I remember in the old days the Caddy horns were pretty loud, not sure which is the loudest now but the Saturn horns sound better..

My squirters do work and real well. Living up in in Oregon/Washington, it does tend to rain more than most places. Maybe why things are Really Green :-)
I like the fact that the squirters follow the whipper across the window and not just pee from the hood.
I do like the idea, maybe I will put the squirter switch some place else..

Thanks for your tips and help !! smile
