I didn't want to drill any holes either but at the end of the day you have to put some holes somewhere to mount it all up though.

What a great price on this system...it's come along way since a few years ago!

Does the intended Van have a third brake light?

I've got a bunch of these going through my fiberglass roof under the framed panel.

Water tight and provide strain relief.

In 2007, my 130 watt panel was 720$$

Check that original link as there have been 140 watt panels for 189$$. It is pretty hard to have too much solar.

Note that 24 volt or higher nominally rated panels require an MPPT charge controller. MPPT controllers basically are dc to dc converters and keep battery voltage from limiting the total panel output. In cold sunny conditions with depleted batteries the output can be 30% more then regular PWM controllers. Due to the cost of the MPPT controllers, it is basically cheaper to get another panel, if you have the room.

My 200 watts are making 13.4 amps as I type, powering my TV, this Laptop and compressor fridge and 5 muffin fans with almost 4 amps still going into my batteries.

In the long run Im going to put a low hi top on it and have the panels set in the roof...so any holes will be sealed when they put the hi top on...but in the mean time a portable will do..

On solarblvd.com they say it is 43" long and on solarenergy.com they say the same unit size is 57" long...
Do you have one & which is it ?

thanks in advance....

I have a Unisolar 68 watt thin film flexible panel on my raised fiberglass roof, in addition to the 130 watt Kyocera framed panel.

If your chevy roof has valleys, well the unisdolars are not that flexible.

Ram4ever has two Unisolar PVL68 he plans on adding. He is going to fill in the roof valleys with some foam and fiberglass over that to make the roof perfectly smooth to adhere the panels.

I am very impressed with the additional output from the Unisolar thin film panel. It is 9'4" long and 15.5" wide. The 128 watter is 16 feet long so that is pretty much not in the picture for a vanstillation. A shame cause the 128 watters are cheaper than the 68 watter.

The Unisolar seems to put out it's maximum rated output 3.5 hours either side of Noon mounted on my roof. The Framed Kyocera flat on my roof is about 1.5 hours either side of noon.

Though the Vmp and VOC are not as close as they should be (within 10% )between the 2 panels they really seem to behave well together, and on a summer day of full sun I can harvest about 100 amp hours.

I could tilt the Kyocera for more juice, as long as it is not shading the unisolar, and depending on the parking angle, even with the shading.

The unisolar really seems to do great on overcast days too. Though the unisolar added only about 50% more watts, on an overcast day I am seeing about 100% more energy returned to the batteries.

Unisolar is out of business, another victim of Chinese undercutting if not outright tech theft. Any panels for sale are leftover stock and prices will probably just rise as it is depleted.

Seeing as how a group 24 battery is around 85 amp hours, this is a pretty good amount of silent, and after purchase, free energy.

Buying a "out of business" means no warranty ? Or If I need to get a replacement part...Who makes them now ?

Is Unisolar really that good to buy a "OOB" part ?
