84, that is carbed, right? I think the harnesses would be close if not the same, maybe lengthen or shorten a wire here or there to reach, other than that, same same. . . . .hope someone who knows better than me chimes in.

I would first try and keep the 84 wiring harness. Like Fester, I think much will be the same.

However, I would strongly recommend you keep the 300. 351s are VERY thirsty, and a 300 can give fine performance in a daily driver van AND good fuel economy. I say sell the 351 and put the money and effort into freshening up the 300 and upgrading it a bit.

I agree. Keep the 300. Clifford intake, carb, and header will wake the engine up and make you forget all about that V8. If you really want to have some fun, hang a turbocharger off that inline and go V8 hunting.

Grab a set of the factory dual exhaust manifolds off of a late 80s/early 90s fuel injected motor. In fact, a great upgrade would be to convert your 300 to fuel injection. It can be done with factory bolt on parts and give great increases in performance and economy.

Its pretty well a straight swap, if you kept all the mounts... I dropped a 351 Cleveland in my 66, and had to do a little bit of imaginative metal work to the engine box and seats..

Hope you kept the front coils, as the 351 had a bit of a weight game over the six...heavier shocks as well, and a three core rad with flex fan to handle the extra heat

All good points Doc. Swapping an 8 in place of a six requires more than just a motor. But don't use a flex fan. Get a correct factory clutch fan that won't explode at high RPM.

Just remember spark plugs are no fun to get to on a 351 in a van. Even the 302's aren't a lot of fun, trust me.
