Here's that drawing again with part numbers added if you're missing anything:

[Linked Image]

Like Phoenix, I had non-stock carb/intake and also went nuts working out ratio. Mine's the older (1977), all mechanical linkage setup. I finally made a new pivot tower to carb rod,

[Linked Image]

added two Edelbrock kickdown extensions, and because of the intakes height, bolted a large washer to the tower, and ran the kickdown rod through it to keep it from flopping around too much.

(Unlike Phoenix, I didn't have the budget for Lokar pieces, but if I did, I'd have 'em).

That's a really cool annotated diagram Vandude360; thanks for posting that! Did you do that yourself? It took quite a bit of work. Thanks for sharing it.

The "View A" detail in the diagram shows a sort of helper spring that appears in my old 70-72 FSM. They had a little eye molded near the upper end of the throttle rod to anchor a spring which would act as a helper, like what I think the spring Heavy389 was talking about adding to the throttle lever on the transmission would do.

It wouldn't take much to weld a tab or two onto the throttle rod like that to add another spring or so to improve return response and maybe help stabilize the rod's position some.

Yes, it took a little effort, but just a little. The picture (including most of the part numbers) came from an old Direct Connection Race Bulletin (#19, pg. 28) Some numbers were too faded
to read, some were missing last few digits. a patient parts counter man filled in the blanks, I retyped 'em.

I don't have a good pic of the "modern" setup, but here's a pic from my 1977 FSM showing the "helper spring":

I think the easiest way to add one is shown in the boxed illustration above. Drill a small hole in the front section of the "Adjustable Rod End", and another in the throttle return spring bracket
(1-2" below carburetor spring hole), and add "helper spring to new holes.

Maybe just coincidence? Not sure where the ground strap is, but maybe worth checking?

Did you disturb the (+) and/or (-) wires to the coil? Checked your ballast resistor lately?

I had an A-100 one time that if you floored the acclerator, the kickdown linkage would knock one of the wires off the ballast resistor. lol

Freaked me out the first time it happened.
