That would be cool. If you cut a power one off of a car at a boneyard that can vent and open in the back or slide back onto the roof when it is open...that would look really neat. A lot of those have smooth roof areas around them and they have to be really supported from the underside. I definitely like that idea.

The power roof is a good idea. As for the smooth option, it's all about the bracing. If I remember right, the Corvair van had a smooth roof and that was one big hunk of metal. But it had some curve to it and adequate support. Based upon the frame that you built for the vista top, I'd say that you understand support as well as anyone...

Happy Easter!

Wow this van has come a long way since I last checked in here and it's looking GREAT! I like the smooth roof idea and I also like the power moon roof idea but it doesn't look like you have enough room for the glass to slide back in the van, they do have a power style that slides on top of the vehicle so that might be an option. I would finish the structure of the roof / chop with a smooth roof and and extra roof support underneath the front and sit back and decide if you really need / want it. The vista will definitely let in enough light, ventilation is another factor but you do have windows.

Keep up the great inspirational work Ken.

I might consider a wagon roof section if it looked good . Hoe ever i'd go smooth since it's a short distance . And leave out the sun roof for now you have enough to do as it is .

I vote smooth too. I really like the idea of power sunroof like Frank's #9. Your work is really looking nice, Ken. I have no metal working skills myself, but I sure enjoy watching your work. Keep it up buddy! smile
