I don't think she was expecting me to be right up against the door. Had 2 projects going at the same time when she came in.

yeah I know the older roofs are less work, but they are all getting harder to find in good shape.

Man that's a lot of work to put on a roof top!! It looks like the roof is what was holding that wagon together. So that should show how strong it was before you reinforced it to Brinks armored car status grin

Can't wait to see it on the van it is going to look Bob Bitchin!!!

haha Not actually reinforced, just a solid platform for it to sit on.

Been swamped lately at work (real job) but they can't pay me till they get paid frown so I haven't been on here much lately and haven't done too much stuff on the builds, but got a little bit accomplished.

Vista Wagon is nearly gone and got a few bucks for scrap. I need to figure out if the rest of the stuff I kept from it is worth selling or if I should just scrap it all.

Anyway, some pictures for you all.

Well, I got the Vista mostly gone and stored away the rest to try and sell when I get some free time.

Back at the real project now, I spent quite a bit of time on the framing for the van roof. I didn't take too many pictures Saturday as I was concentrating on bending all the contours to the framework and didn't want to stop to snap pictures. Deb and the girls took the camera to church with them on Sunday, so I snapped a few when they got home.

This shows where I had to trim out the windshield pinch weld area. I fabricated a new edge out of the square tubing I bought. It would have been nice to use my tubing roller, but I can't find 1" square dies for it frown so had to do it the old fashioned way by cutting and bending and welding back together. It prolly was better this way anyway because the rail needed to curve like the windshield in both directions.

Anyway, here is the frame on the floor with some cross bracing to hold it's proper shape.

Then I laid it on top of the van roof and after a bit of measuring, clamped it in place and marked out the roof (what's left of it anyway) for trimming to the shape of the framework.

Frame on floor, I trimmed out the roof area. Up next is hammering some of the rain rail edges, the will sit on top of the framing. I could prolly cut a lot of them off, but will have to do some hammering anyway, then I'll fit the frame on the inside of the van roof.

Stay tuned....
