Living in the Pacific Northwest, I get to deal with every variety of rainfall, from "misting" to "downpour". I can get by without most modern automotive convienences, but would really like to add an intermittent control to my vans winshield wiper system.

Does anyone know if I could do so with a switch and/or other components (preferably junkyard sourced) from a newer model year dodge car/truck/?

Maybe you could Build your own delay module? Looks simple enough and small enough to mount almost anywhere in a van. I don't think mid-Dodges ever had delay wipers as an option, and the 79-up delay wipers used different motors and wiring than the mids.

I definitely don't posess enough grey matter (good stuff anyway) to build a delay thingy. I've been looking at installation wiring diagrams for aftermarket systems (with, and without delay feature) and about the only difference seems to be the switch and how many wires are connected to it.

I did find this picture at JC, but they seem to use it as bait to try selling me a stock switch for a 99-03 Hyundai Sonata.

I could dump a day's pay on a new switch that might work with the OEM motor (or a week's pay for the whole system (and mount the motor in the dash -safe from rain), but I was hoping to just be able to adapt a later model junkyard switch. If my van gets too many new parts, it might get all snooty, and start wanting to get spoiled with premium gas, a paint job, and all sorts of fancy do-dads...

Looks like 77 and 79 B vans use the same wiper motor for non-delay applications, which leads me to believe that the wiper motor for a delay system out of a 79-up van would physically bolt into a 71-78 body. Some time spent in a junkyard unwrapping the wiring look to grab everything from the switch out to the motor on a 79+ B van with delay wipers might get you everything you need. However, since Pick-N-Pull by McChord is run by a bunch of robbers now, I can't say how cheap that option would be. Keep us posted how this turns out.

The motors are the same for delay and non-delay. Delay option had a different switch with a resistor on the back and a delay module mounted behind the gauge cluster.

I will have the module, two spare switches, and connector/wiring available to do a swap for sale in the near future.

It will be from my 85 but imagine it will fit a van from 78 to 86 or 87 (before they moved the controls to the turn signal stalk).

Interesting. Rockauto has different part numbers for delay vs. non-delay wiper systems. I thought the delay motors had different internal wiring?
