Thanks Brad. I can start them at any time. I have the panels I need for them now. I'm really trying to get the Vista roof on the van though. If you get anxious, send me a message and I'll see if I can squeeze it into a weekend.

Well, spent Saturday and Sunday in the garage. It was over 90 degrees yesterday and too hot to do much, so I piddled around a bit.

Anyway, Randy had asked for detailed pictures of the roof framing, so I snapped some while I was working on the framing. I realized the ones I posted before really didn't show much.

So, here are a few shots of the frame I built in the van

Then I proceeded to put the roof ribs in. Most are very small, but the front rib was spread and modified to fit back in. It worked out great too that it sat right under the new framing I made for the vista roof.

Then I cut out all the cross bracing. It's nice to have an open floor plan in the van again.

I trimmed the front donor roof to start fitting for the flat front roof. Yes it's going to be smooth. Here are a couple shots with the front roof skin in place.

That would be cool. If you cut a power one off of a car at a boneyard that can vent and open in the back or slide back onto the roof when it is open...that would look really neat. A lot of those have smooth roof areas around them and they have to be really supported from the underside. I definitely like that idea.

Sounds like it has to be the plan. Now to find the right roof.

Happy Easter!

lol Yeah, a wise man warned me well about bracing grin

I would finish the structure of the roof / chop with a smooth roof and and extra roof support underneath the front and sit back and decide if you really need / want it. The vista will definitely let in enough light, ventilation is another factor but you do have windows.

Keep up the great inspirational work Ken.

Thanks buddy! Hoping to install the Vista on Saturday. Wanna stop by to lend a hand? We'll get some food and beer.

This is so true! I'm going to fit the front section of the roof and the sunroof will come as time allows.
