I'm sure that you will make it right. Good luck! | | | Re: Paul's "new" Chop! | Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 2,038 veteran | OP veteran Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 2,038 | Well the official name for this project is "MUTILATED METAL".
Leonard... I don't know about the bondo but you can do the interior! Member Shenandoah Valley Vans Van = Party. Party + cool people = Vannin'. Lets go Vannin'!

Paul you might as well remover the rest of the heavy stuff off of that body and get a good look at the sheet metal underneath it. worse case is you might have to weld some new panels sections back in the really bad places.Use the mistakes they made as a guide. I bet those arrows on the rear are solid filler. The lowered tail lights look neat.If done incorrectly.Another style different tail lights done right will look better.

Was it a window van? | | | Re: Paul's "new" Chop! | Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 7,662 Likes: 2 carpal tunnel | carpal tunnel Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 7,662 Likes: 2 | Yep ,it's only metal.......
The key is to not cover metal in so much mud. For what ever reason mud sculptures where a common practice back in the 80's...

All the bondo is coming off! I repeat ALL!!! The tails are solid filler. The filler I removed from around the tail lights I can see I am not happy with the way the metal was done.I have some Ideas what I am going to do there. Have some new metal and grabbing what clean metal I can at the yards.I did like the Idea of using factory tail lights but did't work out. As far as mud sculpture that is what they where going for. I had to remove 5 gallons of the crap! I think who ever did it was a drywaller. I want metal not mud! Doing a bunch of welding to fix the problems, still not going to be perfect but a driver.
Ken... No windows just filled crap with bondo rather than doing it with metal.I want to meet the person that did this. He would have won trophies at "Mud Sculpturing" (As Wookee puts it)rather than body work! Member Shenandoah Valley Vans Van = Party. Party + cool people = Vannin'. Lets go Vannin'!
