Glad you got it. Have fun!
By the way, our 65 Chevy has the rear doors split and set up to hinge at the top like a gullwing and the bottom half drops like a tailgate | | | Re: Paul's "new" Chop! | Joined: May 2010 Posts: 2,820 veteran | veteran Joined: May 2010 Posts: 2,820 | Um ok I am listning here Wookee but I am not understanding on the door thing.I am not sure but didn't you spell your name wrong? The rear doors are welded and they must have used side metal because of the "valley" in there but I did not take of the plywood on the inside to see. I was talking about the side doors. I have a set of side barn doors no windows and was thinking about welding the (on chevy it would be the 40 door) and having the other one swing. What do you think?? i say go for it , if i had those doors instead of the slider i thought about doing the same thing . | | | Re: Paul's "new" Chop! | Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 7,662 Likes: 2 carpal tunnel | carpal tunnel Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 7,662 Likes: 2 | this van had a Clam Shell set up on its side door. Sorry I don't have any good pictures of the passenger side of this van... I went in and looked a little closer at you pictures. There is defiantly a side section filling the rear door opening. The current side gull wing does look like it need a little help, IF the inner frame work is in good shape you might be able to re skin that door. With a good MIG machine and an open mind any thing is possible....... .........Wookee

I like the "Dutch door" Idea that would probly be the best for getting in and out. And no reskining the door the cut the inside all up probly to loose weight on it. The hinges they used are smaller thab the Ford stock ones so you can imagine how that worked out.The door is trash but we will fill it with somthing! Stardreamer.... I didn't realize it was for sale before! Guess it was meant to be!! Member Shenandoah Valley Vans Van = Party. Party + cool people = Vannin'. Lets go Vannin'!

I am getting ready to do a "Shorty" gull wing for the back of Big Red.There is a local fab shop here I deal with that has a press brake and is real reasonable supplying/ bending steel.... An inner frame work can be made up with out a bunch of head ache.... Hinges can also be a small issue.....

Everything can be fixed (including the "infected" dash but they really messed the side door up. IMO. Member Shenandoah Valley Vans Van = Party. Party + cool people = Vannin'. Lets go Vannin'!
