Anyone have experience in working with repairing ABS plastic pieces? I have an overhead console found at Pick N Pull, that I am going to repair restore and otherwise install in my van. I has some cracks. I bought some glue to try to repair the cracks at the corners, a couple of minor ones in the middle ( look like stress cracks). Been wondering if I could fiberglass the backside for strength, etc. Anyone with info or ideas, please share. I would really like to fix and be able to use this rare piece. Here's a couple of pics to show what I am working on.

have you considered welding from the backside as an option before glue

Hmmmmmmmm......JB weld make a putty that you can sand/paint and cures like steel. I used it to repair a clip that holds my storage compartment to my dog house and its held up well for about a year in all types of heat/cold. I plan to use it when i repair/ paint my plastic grill. Here is a link to the stuff. JB weld putty. Its super easy to use and its tough as all get out.

Tide, Mine came out of a 91 Dodge I saw at my local Pick N Pull. I appreciate all the feedback on fixing this thing. Gonna tackle it today. Will let y'all know how it goes. I am anxious to get it fixed and installed sometime this month. Definitely gonna put the CB in the center where a switch panel once went. Put the switches in different location on the console. Thought about mounting the stereo and CB in the same spot, just not sure if the weight would be too much for the old plastic. Had thought about putting some additional gauges (vacuum, trans temp, and small tachometer) in place of the original stereo location if I can make it happen. Most likely just the CB in the center, then find or build a pod for the gauges in the top center of the dash.
