I'm not putting down anyones work. I [that's me, myself and I] have never seen a fiberglass anything better than factory steel.

If I had a choice, I'd rather be T-Boned having a steel door, with welded hinges at the roof and larger, stronger bolts at the door.

Just my preference/opinion, nothing more smile

This hinge is holding the door down a bit, that is why there needs to be a notch in the door.

[Linked Image]

Started bending and cutting this hinge to see what I could come up with.
The pivot point being just outside the door face lets the door open with out hitting the gutter.
That will let the door open 90 degrees or more.

Stopped working on the door and started working on making a slide so the drivers seat
can slide back and turn 90 degrees so he can get to his wheel chair.
Then was hit with the Big "O" Open heart surgery and then 3 weeks
later was hit with Rhabdomyolysis "?" in Dec.
Doing good now, and working on the seat now. (See Mark's Seat Mod.)

That's it, I drug up the old thread when I found it there. I've been looking at other stuff, but since I don't have the van, I can't picture it. It would be awesome if I could cut out the upper sliding track, and attach a steel brace down the side like angle iron at the upper inside, for some trunk arms, that would put the door over the drip edge. The sliding track at the roof inside runs in toward the front of it, putting it in my way for the arm hinge idea, just not sure how I could remove it. Wish I had taken more pictures of the interior, frustrating that the lift leaves no room for a passenger seat, it's my choice in lift, the hydraulic is larger and has supports on both sides of it, unlike whats in my 99.
Yeah, I appreciate the seat Cloudy, no way you can get at the door, you need rest to heal.

Will, most trunk arms only open about 45 to 55 degrees. The best I know is the VW buss rear hatch. And yes, the roof is not strong enough to hold the door.
But now we have the mini Vans.

Gonna wind up using hinges like what you pictured, I need it dependable and don't have time to play with it, I want to drive it, not look at it on occasion. It's not a great deal having to duck rolling in, I'm doing it now and have been for 10 years, hopefully in time maybe I can come up with something different, but not important.

That's them. I came up with nearly the identical hinge. I didn't care if the hinge was visible like most seem to care about, my van has bid exposed hinges already, LOL!

Maybe one of those small, stationary type flip seats like in a UPS truck, etc... would serve the purpose?

Where does it mount first, the van or the door, and how do you mark it's location?
