Played it in it more than I worked out of it! had it till about 10 years ago. Would still have it if not so many windows! Member Shenandoah Valley Vans Van = Party. Party + cool people = Vannin'. That was 1974 and 3 months prior to me leaving the USN there. Helped form "Virginia Beach Van Association" as well that summer. Previously, this Van had transported dry cleaning around the Washington DC area, or so the artist who painted it had claimed. It had 160K miles on it as well. It after all of these years, sits comfortably in my garage, but looks so different, than this original photo! Sorry the photo is blurry, but it was taken off of an old 8mm film! How she looks after 38 years!

My dad bought the Big Green Van new from Haley Chevrolet in Farmville VA. Dad had a '73 Club Wagon we'd been tooling around in since the early '80's. It had no AC or anything else, and he got tired of taking trips in it as my brother and I outgrew conventional vehicles. His buddy Kent at Haley guaranteed we wouldn't outgrow the green G20, and we haven't. After many years of steady service, he gave me the Big Green this summer for trips. I love the Big Green, it's like a member of the family, and I can't imagine not having it. My youngest son Robbie, a real van fanatic, calls it the "van van".
If your gonna do it, do it in a Big Green Van! | | | Re: When did you buy your first van ? | Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 6,266 Vanner Extraordinaire | Vanner Extraordinaire Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 6,266 | Winter 1973...a 64 Chev shorty...Painted 2 tone powder blue and white (with a roller). Had the 194 and a stick, but it took me to lots of van parties. Got a 350 transplant and we went more places. Also the day we left for the 2nd Nats, we acquired a 61 Econoline California Bell van that carried us to van events thru divorces, rollovers, and all sorts of mayhem til 1981...
