There is really no correct way to fix up a van. Depending on you skill level it is really up to you. A van is like a woman. It speaks it own language.Learn to understand it and it will tell you allot about it.When it needs work when the work is done right and it is happy. Mid Dodges can be very dependable, reliable daily drivers.
I personally start fixing things or improving areas I want to change. Some of these things will really stand out to YOU.
for example the color of the carpet. if you do not like it carefully take it out check every thing underneath it.bad spots will really show up.Fix those.Install the new stuff.Using the old stuff as patterns(IF you like they way it was done).move on to the next thing.
There is an image code[IMG]that drops down from your picture if you lay your cursor on the picture. copy and paste this code and your pictures will appear in your post. Leave a full space above and below the code.
Clean dodge you have there good luck on your project.

I personally like an all original or as close as you can original 70's van. Inside and out. Only you can really determine what should stay and what should go.

Wouldnt have believed it if i hadnt seen it myself.
I say start on the interior as long as it is in good running condition. Check the brakes and suspension, as those make the biggest difference in safety and an enjoyable driving experience.

I am pretty sure i will be hitting you guys up as I go.
Draggnasto-I don't drink but i am always able supply for my friends and family, especially those who want to help out with the van. I do cut em off though once the wrenches start hitting the ground frequently and the cuts on the plyhood get a little off centered....if ya know what i mean. | | | Re: Where to start on my project | Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 7,662 Likes: 2 carpal tunnel | carpal tunnel Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 7,662 Likes: 2 | Having friends who will "work for beer" can come in handy some times.......

Is their kits available or is it a generic set that you cut and glue on?
Local NW guys-where are the pick n pulls...thanks 86ed.. i am going to get the bezels. | | | Re: Where to start on my project | Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 12,107 Likes: 37 Maniac | Maniac Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 12,107 Likes: 37 | The last junkyard I go to was Pull-A-Part out by Fort Lewis. However, this was bought by Schnitzer Steel last year and turned into Pick-N-Pull. The prices have more than tripled. I don't go junkyarding much anymore. Craigslist is a better source for cheap parts these days. However, out by Lakewood there is also South Hill auto wrecking who used to specialized in trucks and vans, Meridian is pricey but often have a good selection. Weatherstripping can be purchased from metro moulded rubber ( http://metrommp.com/ ) or JC Whitney. Currently there are no suppliers for new side and rear cargo door weatherstrip. You can buy all the front door weatherstrip new, but the sides and rear you are stuck with good condition used. The one barrel carb in a B van is slant six specific. Mopar NEVER put a single barrel carburetor on anything bigger than a six cylinder. Some people confuse a BBD with a one barrel, but the BBD is a two barrel.
Windows- they're what make a van worth owning! | | |
