Wookee,
We had originally planned to go to Harrisburg but since we were heading to the C of C in Florida and doing vacation down there it was going to be hard to take the extra time off work, plus we were having truck issues and did not want to chance a breakdown pulling the trailer.
For the same reason we have not done any ISCA indoor shows this year. If we get the truck issue sorted out by next winter we may try to make a few of the various indoor shows again.
Unfortuantly right now our main focus is helping my youngest son down in Southern Indiana rebuild his house after they had a house fire early last week that wiped out the whole house, most of their personal effects and one of their cars.
Yes, the indoor shows can cost quite a bit more but with good planning the costs can be kept to a reasonable amount. Main costs are due to the time off to get to the show and set up and travel home, plus electric fees, hotel & meal bills. We solved the hotel and meal issues by getting the trailer with the living quarters in it and it was not costing us any more in fuel pulling the big trailer than we did pulling the van on an open trailer and only slighlty more than driving the van itself (van gets 13 mpg on premium, 1 ton truck and enclosed trailer is 10-11 on diesel, 3/4 ton truck and open trailer was 6-8 mpg on regular).
I agree that if we do more car shows it will generate more interest in the van scene again without having to invite non-vanners into the events.
Star Dreamer, this show would be quite the haul for you.
Are you doing the ICSA in door shows this year?
Doug, indoor shows can cost a good bit more than doing a normal summer Truck In.
It would be cool for vanners to pick out some indoor shows across the country and have a group of vans show up at each one.
With the right interest and planning I think we could pull this off.
A lot of vanners do not feel comfortable inviting the public to our events. If we put forth the effort we can Invade the car guys world and promote our life style.
Show the public we are still alive and well....
