I will bet the engine is not as bad as what the seller claims. The work I see done on the rear doors is very well done. I hope it makes it to its new home safely and thew restoration work can begin. Hopefully we will see this van at van events again....
......Wookee Wookee...I think you are right about the engine not being as bad as thought. I put PB Blaster down in the cylinders and it turned over by hand 2 days later. I have changed the oil, plugs and put a new fuel filter on it. I went to pump out the fuel tank to get rid of any old fuel that has been sitting in the engine but it was empty! Put a new battery in the van this evening and sprayed some starting fluid in the carb and it fired right up!!!!! Tomorrow I am going to put some fuel in the tank and see if I can keep it running (hoping the fuel pump is ok)!!! You can not imagine how excited I am. I was hoping not to have to replace the engine (but would if I had to) and it seems like its going to run! It sounded awesome....but I could only keep it running so long with starting fluid! I will keep everyone posted!!!! | | | Re: My new 77 Dodge project!!!! | Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 7,662 Likes: 2 carpal tunnel | carpal tunnel Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 7,662 Likes: 2 | It will sound better once it gets some good gas in her. If the tank is empty go ahead and drop it and check it real good for rust.the worst thing you can do sometimes is let a tank set empty they will rust up pretty quick. Lacquer thinner will start an engine that has sat a long time and will not hurt any thing. It will not miss fire/detonate like starting fluid can and will do. I really hope she fire up and runs good for you. I get the feeling the shop this van was at did not have a clue what they where talking about.....
I really hope to see this van at an event some where this summer.... She is becoming a true "Survivor"

If all is well, have the valve guides and new valve seals put in the heads. I'm sure they're shot.
