Been awhile since we posted so we have a few updates:
We picked up a disk brake rear end out of a chevy blazer 4wd, just waiting on some new spring mounts that we are having fabricated to get it mounted. Also picked up a 4l60E trans.
Made our own trans crossmember since the factory one was cut out by previous owner and wouldn't have worked anyway.
Mocked up the gull wing door struts, no more wood props on the side door!
Motor and trans mounted:
Picked up some parts at a hod rod shop auction:
My son is a dealer for American Autowire, so ordered a new chassis wiring harness (the old wiring was so brittle it was breaking apart every time we touched it) New kit looks great to work with a van. We will post more pictures later of the wiring work.
Mounted a strut for the top half of the rear clam shell door, it is nice not having any wood door props:
And we cut out the rear pan for a new modified trailer hitch:
Next items on the list are to get the rear end mounted and get the motor wired up to see if the new/used 5.3L motor will start & run.
