With the doghouse off you will hear the high pressure (HP) pump if it's running as it is close and loud. They have a wrapping to help quiet them down some. The ECM runs it for a few seconds each time the switch is turned to on. After the engine cranks up the HP pump runs continuously as long as the ECM "sees" the engine running. It is controlled by a relay and is (I believe) fused in the fuse box.
