I did this friday night. I also pulled the rear bumper off and the home made hitch that was welded in solid . Then something a little fun , removing some of the bracing that was no longer needed . Saturday Bob stopped over and we milled the idea of swapping the spings around on the chop to get her to sit lower . I didn't want to flip the rear as that would be to low . I only wanted like two inches . After all the work was done and having the same springs on each side the van was sitting an inch taller on the diver side and the intire job gained me a full inch and a half drop on the passenger side and 3/4 of an inch on the driver side . It didn't make sence . After this was done i put my self to work back on the roof . I made a patch plate for the third brake light area that was in the newer van roof . | | | Re: 77 Dodge Street Van | Joined: May 2010 Posts: 2,820 veteran | veteran Joined: May 2010 Posts: 2,820 | nice work , what blue van is that in the background of the second pic? | | | Re: 77 Dodge Street Van | Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 3,586 Likes: 1 pooh-bah | OP pooh-bah Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 3,586 Likes: 1 | Back to doing some welding .. I had a few gaps to fill in plus a rust hole i been putting off . Some one inquired about how to fix a rust spot in the rian gutter ( drip rail ) lower roof area here is a method i used . Lucky for me i saved some scrap from the donor roof as I had the part i needed . Even tho it was a little rusty to , the rust stopped just where i needed to cut it out , I got real lucky on this one . Cutting out the bad metal on the chop van proved to be risky here as i didn't want to cut in to the good part of the drip rail . I got as close as i could with the dremel cutting wheel the i put the channel pliers on it and pealed it like a can opener ( I got lucky again ) it came off clean and straight. I cleaned up the drip rail free of sealer and serface rust and started to fit the new part . No shit guys for all who don't know i bet i spent three hours on this alone from removing it to fitting in just right and cleaned the area so you can weld to it . then a little welding it's not all done at once you have to keep hitting it with little spots and come back . | | | Re: 77 Dodge Street Van | Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 18,552 Likes: 137 Supreme Master | Supreme Master Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 18,552 Likes: 137 | Looking good.Nice work covering the third brake light. The drip rail repair is amazing

Do you have the blue van in any threads C1Run1? I'd love to see it; I'm pretty gung-ho on space scene murals!
C1Run1, I wish you would have included a few pictures of the actual rear end work; I'm really curious why you would have ended up with so much of a side to side difference in height too. You didn't really get into the details in your post, so how did you actually go about accomplishing the drop?
Nice job on that patch! Did you flange that or are those butt welds?
