That's some graphic carnage! I'm sure glad you caught that before it got even worse. How much metal do you think needs to be replaced under all that? Is the wheel arch OK? I'd think you'd have been able to smell a musty smell with that going on in there; bet you'll breathe easier now!

I had a leak at my rear cargo doors that caused similar damage to the original wood floor, but fortunately I caught it in time; the paint and metal was still OK. There was actually some kind of white fungus growing in the rotted wood! -Yuck!!

Are you going to splice in some new flooring to cover that area or do you think you'll replace all of it at once? I replaced all of mine at once to be sure I didn't have any fungus spores left over. With the corrugations in the floor, they could get around pretty easily. Even up towards the front I could smell some musty smell on the underside of the wood.

I coated all of the replacement wood with Thompson's Water Seal, which is used to preserve exterior wood decks. I figure it might make the flooring a bit less tasty to any future invaders...

It's being cut out and replaced with new metal. I'll replace the wood floor section myself with some birch ply (it was osb board). Scary thing is the Propane cylinder for the cooker sits in that cupboard. It's one of the big ones too that are usually used for a houshold cooker, so if that had fallen through the rotten floor after hitting a bump I may well have had the first Chevy to dock with the MIR space station!!!! KABOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!

The new hoses look sweet! The floor, um, not so much. Glad you caught it before the tank went through.

It's been an age since I updated this so here goes. I got a small warehouse unit to store it before xmas so I could start into the bodywork.
I started by attacking some rust that was behind the rear bumper. The bumper itself was bent so I am replacing it with a spare front bumper I have (some modification required). Anything that I take off I strip back to bare metal and repaint.
I finished my custom engine cover/doghouse.
I have just finished striping the van ready to attack the rust and prep it for paint.
There are quite a few holes in it which I will be filling in with patches.
At the moment I'm experimenting with chopping the front springs to lower it.
Here's the photos.....
