For a brief time in the late 70s and early 80s Chrysler had a development program to make a diesel slant six. That would be my dream engine, right after a turbine.

Windows- they're what make a van worth owning!

Australia held on to those and upgraded them with a turbo, that had to be fun.

I am with going to a V8. Slant 6's are a bullit proof run forever engine ...but a NO power Mopar that will run forever with abuse and No abuse. Don't go to the mountains...smile Phoenix was bought with a slant and a 3 speed on the floor with overdrive. basically a four speed on the floor. It had no power and lost speed going over an overpass, down to 45 mph from 60. That was brand new. I know these guys will be calling me a liar and I don't know what I am talking about but, I will be happy to help you if you PM me and I can give yu some advice switching over to the V8. That's what I did, however I did go with a 360 crate engine from Mopar performance. For someone else I would recomend a Balanced engine lie a 318. That I can help you with just the same. That is what I am good at. A 318 will give you a good sound and good economy gas wise and all the power you need. Here's a pic or the old 60,000mile slant coming out. The hardest part is the bracket to build to lift the 6 out correctly. I have plans for that too. Just holler if you need some solid advise
