It runs it runs, oh thank god it runs! and well!! I thought it died at the stoplight leaving home, turns out it just runs that smooth now. Im ready to hit the road with it. May still need an oil pump replaced in the future but for now i think we're good! Oh yeah, carpets in as well. Ill take the pics when i get done trimming it out. Just got the piece by the side doors left.

That is so CoooooooL!!!! Now go out and enjoy it. Fix up the interior at a pace that you won't down it until you have driven and enjoyed it for awhile!!!

Sweet. The hydraulic lifter slant sixes run VERY smooth and quiet. Enjoy!

Put about 150 miles on it so far, only problem im still having is i think that i hurt the bottom end with all the water and crud that fell in it during the head swap, plus it idling ad 2k rpm for over a month. Idles nice and quiet, and is great up until 35-40mph. At speed its got a pretty good rattle in it, but seems to be holding oil pressure, started adding 20w50 to it and it has quieted down a bit. I have a 1100 mile trip ahead of me soon, so as long as it makes that im good. Then i can pull it and rebuild it top to bottom.

Wait, 20W-50? You shouldn't need to run any oil heavier than 5W-30. 20W-50 is too thick and will actually lead to lower oil pressure and oil starvation because it is so thick. Before you do your 1100 mile trip, drain the motor and refill the crank with 5W-30 and NO ADDITIVES.

You should be able to reduce the idle by turning the idle speed screw out on the carb. Set the idle around 750-800 RPM. Also, double check your base timing. Set it to the factory specification listed under the hood.

Also make sure the vacuum hose is still hooked up to the spark control computer and an unported vacuum source (such as T-ing into the choke pulloff hose). Double check that the vacuum transducer on the computer holds a vacuum.
