I look forward to the next phase. Steady as she goes!
Randy Thanks Randy , Well i was planing on having some one push up from the inside on the edges while i press down to get a good contour. Tack it in place all the way around then build the braces ? Once this was done then finsh the welding all the way around . I'm open to your sugestions ? Once this was done then finsh the welding all the way around . I'm open to your sugestions ? Thanks Joe I can tell you what did not work for me... My first chop van was a 1974 Chevy done back in 1977. I did a 10" straight cut using the same method you are using. Since this was pre-mig days for me I had a friend (master metal man) stand inside the van with a hammer and dollie, working the welds as I welded using an gas torch. The sides came out great using this method. When it came to installing the roof skin I first widen the braces then welded the skin in place using brazing rod since this area could no longer be hammer welded. The result was that I ended up with a slight hump at each brace. So much so that I ended up installing a vinyl roof which was the last thing that I wanted but the easy way out. So if I had it to do all over again I would do what it sounds like you have planned. I'm sure that your will come out great. I bid on it on ebay. If I would have gotten it, she would have remained stock. although it would have looked great stock. It looks amazing the way you chopped it. You are doing a fantastic job. you guys are making it look so easy.
As for the boss wheels. I love them. But I would have put the 20s on the rear. Not that I want to tell you how to build your van. I work for a rim shop in pittsburgh. And have sold those wheels to 2 of my friends. One set on a 66 lemans. And another set on a 58 biscayne.

your van is f#@king sweet.... Thanks Mopar.. As for the wheels i'm going back to the old style of 15's reverse 15x10's ans 15x8's only problem i'm having a hard time locating something i like . I was trying for a 3 inch back space on both front and back . Other then a custom oder from budnik or billet specailties i have only found circle track wheels with that size and back space . I thought i could get cragers but they are 3 3/4 on the 15x10's or 4.5 . Thats not much of a back space difference for a reverse wheel . I need to build the wheel well flares to the size of wheels and tires i will be running . | | | Re: 77 Dodge Street Van | Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 9,428 Likes: 2 carpal tunnel | carpal tunnel Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 9,428 Likes: 2 | Cool bro, you are making good progress with this van. You can get any backspace you like from Cragar for an additional 10 bucks per wheel and it takes about 3-4 weeks for the special order...also you can get direct bolt instead of the uni-lug....
