Well I got the new wheels home last night. I was right in that the rubber is shot. There is one that has good tread, but has age cracking. These wheels are stamped 15x8 on the back. I have another set of wheels and tires I am considering buying for the rubber alone. I have pics of all that. I also got the new radiator. Sorry for the crappy pic, it was getting dark out! I'll get better pics tomorrow.

Gotta love my truck!! rofl Drove these back 60 miles like that..

Here is the other set of wheels and tires. These are gonna set me back $275.

Nice. 15x8 is a good size.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger.......
This is one of the main reasons I dislike doing mechanical work.Unexpected set backs ether engineer related ,age related. If some thing unexpected can go wrong, it usually can and will.......

At least with welding fabrication work, and body work. I can start on something and not have to stop until the job is done.Little to no trips into the unexpected........

I agree Wookee! That is one thing I have always learned in my 25 years of working on cars. I just expect things to go right, then get really mad when they dont lol

Are you keeping receipts to see what your free van will cost in the long run ?

Well, I got the new coolant temp sender installed. I hit the key and she seemed to start easier and with a lower RPM than before. This makes me wonder if this switch was operating correctly or not before. I am about to go drive her over to a co-oworkers house where I am fixing her car next.. lol Pictures later folks!

I do have a folder with the receipts. I don't think cost is the issue for me (for HER it is). I find that the interior work is priceless in itself since what I gain and learn from. I'll do a tally later for poops n giggles and see where I am at.

Cant believe I missed this build thread. Nice van for the price, and nice work so far. I paid $150 six years ago for my really rust free dodge (rear barn doors and a small spot below fuel door was all) because of all the mechanical issues. I would rather do mechanical work because that is what I know. However, with mechanical stuff, you cant get overly creative without investing sometimes large sums of money. Body work, I hate it. But this summer I started to do real cutting and welding work and while infuriating, its fun. You will love the looks you get when you finally get those looks, and people point your van out as you drive past. Enjoy it and get to a truckin and see other vans up close for lots of inspiration.

You and me both when it comes to mechanics!! I come from an area where there is NO rust to an area with tons of it. I plan on doing the rest of my vans body work next summer. That way I have something to do throughout the summer. I appreciate your kind words. I am doing the best I can with the best I have at this time in life. One day when I am mr big cpa man and making 6 figures, I'll make sure to have the best of the best for doing stuff!

I am planning on going to Wisconsin next year for NATS. I figure if I do one evAnt, that is gonna be it!
