They put a low rear gear behind 6 popper to give them more power from light to light.4:11's are very common.
I don't speak Dodge very well so I can't tell you how to double check the gear ratio.
I do know a 3:08 to 2:73 will give you good Hi way operation and with a low end torque cam plenty of light to light power.

Uh, 4.11 gears are NOT common behind a slant six. 2.9, 3.2 are the most common, 3.5 is third.

The gear ratio should be on the tag under the hood above the batter, or, if the it is still there, there was a tag attached to the rear axle on one of the cover bolts that has the gear ratio stamped on it.

The 85 I had with a /6 had 3.55 gears. Rode along quite nicely with that setup. Wish I still had that van. frown

I once had an 86 with a slant and 3.5 gears. It worked out to be a good combination. My brother's 83 shorty has a slant and 3.2 gears. It also is a good combination. My 83 shorty has a 318 and 2.7 gears. I would love to switch to 3.2 gears.

I did say I DO NOT speak Dodge well.
I had a friend with a mid 76 Dodge.slant 6.The gear ratio felt way lower than a 3.5.The V/8 screamed at hi way speeds.
I guess I should have said it is common for GM to drop lower gear ratio's behind there 6's.3:36,3:73,4:11's where all available.
Sorry,I just do not trust tags and decals.
On a GM ring and pinion the gear ratio along with the rears build date is stamped right into it.
It takes all of the guess work out of what you have.
Just another reason to like a Chevy......

Depending on the rear set up in that Fury it might not be a bad idea to get the rear out of it......
there where also club member running 2:73 rears behind there 318's that where getting good gas mileage and decent performance out of the 2:73 equipped vans.
A good four barrel headers and exaust also helped out in this department.
That change seamed to wake those 318's up

i had an 82 pickup and 86 van with /6's, AT and both had 3.2 gears. rearend went out in pickup and i put in a 2.7 or 2.9ish, can't remember now, and it took forever to get it up to speed and lost a few MPG. changed it back to the 3.2. here's a pic of my old truck. [Linked Image]
