Thanks for all the comments.

I was really surprised when he said he would be Tig welding. He said you get very little to no warpage and a better seam. Just takes longer to do.

Yes the side pipes are staying. I really do like they way these pipes look. My dad had a set on his '69 Dodge Charger back in the day.

The bubble sunroof had to go on. What is a 70's van without anything bubbled.

Working 6hrs. a day the van must look great. Any pics!!

They got the firm feel gear box in and he said it made a world of a difference. You actually feel like you turning wheels at the other end of the steering wheel. The looseness and how do you put it, the Mopar steering is firmed up!!

Well thanks again for taking the time to comment. Post more pics as it moves along. We are working out the final stages. At that point may hold back pics til he is done with the last few stages. Want to post it done, then the pics of the last stages if you know what I mean. But it has a little ways to go before that.

Richard

Thanks. I bought it off a guy locally. I was looking for one before I even bought my van.

Looking good Richard !
I was thinking of taking some Tig welding classes my self , i'm sure you can't do more then a half inch at a time . But don't hold me to that .
I'd like to watch some one do a side pannel some day or a patch pannel with a Tig .I have seen tig welding done to steel and stanless parts but not a full pannel where it may warp .
The new roof pannel looks good , and the side ports are cut out very nice . They must have a very good nibbler ?
I'm in the market for a new nibbler my self .
As for a chop keep your eyes pealed ,I saw one in Cali three years ago i lost the number for the seller . As far as i know it's still in that garage I was about a grand short at the time and needed another grand to bring it home .
I managed to scrape up the money with overtime and selling junk i had collected but by then wifey had cleaned the desk up nd i lost the number to the garbage dump .
Needless to say my desk does not get cleaned anymore till i do it ... LOL

Thanks for the comments guys!!!. I am getting van sick. Is that normal to suffer separation anxiety. It seems like it is taking forever!!!

c1run1; I know what you mean. I forbid my wife to clean my areas. I have lost so many small torn pieces of paper with important things scribbled on them. I now have a note book next to my work area were I jot the things down. Yet that sometimes is missing because it is the first thing they see to write in.

I went to a welding school back in '84. Air Co. Welding School. I learned all the different styles of welding, Stick, Mig, Gas, and Tig. I received my L.A. county structural steel license, but there was no jobs at the time and I let my license expire. So I haven't really welded since then and lost the now how. I am sure if I practice some it will come back. Mig is the only one I have done and that has been several years. Have a small portable Mig welder in the garage.
Tig is easy, but time consuming. You just don't want to touch the rod to the electrode without gloves. It will send you sailing and possibly stop your heart. All due to the high frequency it uses.

lostinthe70eees; I think the Dodge B van had all the right lines. Why can't Dodge bring back an up dated version of the B Van. Not this Fiat van wantabe. I am sorry I think it is beyond ugly. Bordering hideous!! Just my two cents.
