Wow. This van has come such a long way in a short time. Get that 6 working good and I think you should have decent power and fuel economy. Keep up the great work draggn.

Thank you for the words of encouragement. Turns out it was over heating because i put the thermostat in backwards....Oops! Thats all better now, just waiting for the silicone to set up so i can tune up the carb a little more and take it down to the exhaust shop. Im so glad for this particular journey to be almost over with. Next up is interior updates.

Almost Yay, One more little hiccup. Drove it to the exhaust shop and hopped out, as i walked around it, i noticed it POURINg oil out of it, skippy.... Seems the valve cover gasket slipped AND i wasnt aware that there were seals for the spark plug tubes. Took the valve cover off and its drying now from a carb cleaner bath. Going to use a little silicone to help it seal. Found that there were indeed 6 new spark plug tube seals in the head gasket kit, replaced those, cut the washers off the plugs as instructed. Wife is bringing me some new NGKs back when she comes home from getting her hair did in Winter Haven. Then we should be good...i hope.

C1run1- plans are to strip out all the nasty 25 year old office carpet and do tan vinyl panels on the walls, build a half height wall separating the bed from the rest of the van, tan carpet and some new speakers etc. since i only have one functioning craigco in it now.

Yep- only two Mopar motors came with spark plug tubes- one is a high performance engine, the other is a 426 cubic inch boat anchor! At least they share the same size plug tubes.

It is common for the valve cover gaskets to leak a bit. Most people get too excited and overtorque the hold down bolts and end the cover.

Keep at it- you will get it fixed yet!

One quicky for ya Reed, is there an oil passage of some kind behind the bolts that hold the alternator bracket on? It is leaking like a sieve from behind them, I got the valve cover leak slowed down, it was drenching the whole side of the motor within minutes. I think the rubber gasket is to blame, im going to switch to a cork one and see if that helps.
