Just a side note on the wheels.. I paid $125 for the four wheels, $75 for the rubber, and $42 for the swap. I figure on a per wheel basis I am at only $60 each. I dont think that is too bad of a deal. The jy could probably get $350 for the set. | | | Re: My FREE '87 Econo I drove 350 miles home (57 Pics) | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 1,020 old hand | OP old hand Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 1,020 | | | | Re: My FREE '87 Econo I drove 350 miles home (57 Pics) | Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 18,552 Likes: 137 Supreme Master | Supreme Master Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 18,552 Likes: 137 | Sounds like a great price on the wheels/tires. How long did the bushings take to install? looks like it could be a pain.

What axle do you have by the way? Do you know?
Windows- they're what make a van worth owning! | | | Re: My FREE '87 Econo I drove 350 miles home (57 Pics) | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 1,020 old hand | OP old hand Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 1,020 | Sounds like a great price on the wheels/tires. How long did the bushings take to install? looks like it could be a pain. The drivers side was easy. The bolts for the bracket on the frame was all it took. I would say about 30 - 45 minutes. The passenger side, well.... bolts on the bracket faced the exhaust, therefore I couldnt undo the bracket on the frame unless I took my exhaust apart. So, I took the spring out, undid the shock from the arm, and popped it apart. Problem was popping it back together. Eventually after about 3 hours I got it. My method involved a jack under the I-beam, and a scissor jack pushing the beam back towards the hole. What a PIA it was! | | | Re: My FREE '87 Econo I drove 350 miles home (57 Pics) | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 1,020 old hand | OP old hand Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 1,020 | Rear axle seals- do you mean the ones on the outboard side by the brakes or the one behind the pinion on the middle of the axle? I have heard that they can and will do. I think the axle is an 8.8. I am gonna go look at the tag on the pumpkin. | | | Re: My FREE '87 Econo I drove 350 miles home (57 Pics) | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 1,020 old hand | OP old hand Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 1,020 | It is indeed an 8.8 with 3.73 gears to boot! | | |
