Here's a couple of pictures of my latest project to upgrade the turbo for the diesel in my van. I detail my efforts in three articles so far for Knighty's Knotebook if interested in the journey to this point.

Picture of the newly modified and welded stainless 3 1/2 inch downpipe.

Awesome job there Bonehead,

It looks great! All you need to do now is replace those ugly cast iron pipes from the heads to the turbo unit LOL! How does it GO! Does it sem faster, more powerful? Can you do burnouts with it now?

I have no clue how it goes since it is still in the garage as I fit up the exhaust. Had to cut and have welded another pipe underneath today, but the rest should go on with minor mods (like cutting a couple of long pieces). The exhaust is going to exit in front of the right side duallies since I have no room to get a 4" pipe over the rear axle. With that 5" stainless tip in place it will look just like a Honda from the side:< )

Man that looks tight, you are definitely running out of room under there. I figured that would start heating up your engine hood. I wish my Ford van had a diesel, but repairs are high cost. We have a guy on our Ford truck world site, in our Tennessee chapter, who is packing major power out of the diesel in his F-350. I don't recall what the Dyno got from the rear wheels but I believe it was over 400 HP. Superchip has a programmer that will increase it 80 HP and a towing program for a 60 HP increase.

I have the super tuner already so these mods go beyond that. I've had to run it in the towing mode but can now try the 80 hp mode. Plus the new turbo setup and large exhaust should provide another 100+ hp with torque up almost 200 lbs. Also already running dual K & N filters which help.

Believe it or not the engine cover NEVER gets hot and the cooling van (electric) NEVER kicks in unless I am towing up big hills in hot weather with AC running. The engine runs all day at about 180 degrees with no fan. GO figure!

Have you ever thought about propane injection. The guy I mentioned has an automatic exhaust brake too, wish I had the diesel. Do you have any tranny issues, some people have problems when theyboost their engine power, the auto trannys fail.
