I really love this van, once it's fixed to drive, I'll be able to bring it home, I plan to save up for ac then. Glass would B the way to go! Thats a heavy arse metal door to be gullwingin! Wouldnt want to gullwing a winder door no how 79 B-200

Just a thought...I've seen them but haven't done more then just browse the web. | | | Re: Mark's Van (maples01) | Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 3,601 Likes: 10 pooh-bah | pooh-bah Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 3,601 Likes: 10 | Unless someone is gonna donate a door, I have to make what I have work. | | | Re: Mark's Van (maples01) | Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 2,825 veteran | veteran Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 2,825 | Unless someone is gonna donate a door, I have to make what I have work. get Cloudy to put some tin on dem winders!!! 79 B-200

Just a thought...I've seen them but haven't done more then just browse the web. They're readily available here and there's a slew on eBay w/ or w/o mounting plates. A good idea but I was looking for complete hinges, ready to go with little alteration. I found some hinges today I think will work best. The continous/piano hinge stock doesn't sit well with me for some reason. These heavy doors need a better type of heavy duty hinge IMO and wider isn't always better. A smaller yet stronger hinge will last longer and function better. I'm for doing stuff with readily available materials so they will be simple yet effecient. I'll be working on this through the weekend. I hope to have a well under $100 gullwing side door soon

With fuel consumption, and cost, it's cheaper to rent a big uhaul truck than it is to use my vans to move it all, even tho it's just 200 miles. This wheelchair conversion is not only budget, but is gonna rely on me making things to make it accessible, cause the stuff is just too costly, and there's just some stuff you can't buy. I bought the van I always wanted, the one I could afford wasn't a cargo, so Cloudy offered to correct that, then the door messed up before I got it to him, so he's gonna do it too. After it gets home, I'll seek out a front assembly for a 75-78 once the money is saved, and I'm gonna do it myself, I enjoy getting to use the mechanic skills I honed before my accident. | | | Re: Mark's Van (maples01) | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 18,286 Likes: 558 | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 18,286 Likes: 558 |
