Looking for a set of 15X8 Rally wheels myself, I kinda like the dark painted wheel though It's not hard to do once you get the hang of it, you can't do it by hand, a dual action polisher will not leave those ugly swirls, for a couple hundred bucks you can get everything you need polisher, some pads and product maybe some nice microfiber towels. Thats alot cheaper than a new paint job. Your the first vote for the dark wheels but rally's should be silver, thats the law. | | | Re: New shorty to forum | Joined: May 2011 Posts: 46 newbie | OP newbie Joined: May 2011 Posts: 46 | The wheels were rough and had many coats of paint, so they needed to be taken down to the metal. I used a wire cup on my grinder and it took longer than I thought but I couldn't stop once I got started. Couldn't be rolling around with one or two nice looking wheels. In progress The wheels fought back. This went through my glove. But it was worth it. These things work great cleaned up the trim rings great but they are still getting replaced with new ones. | | | Re: New shorty to forum | Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 1,474 old hand | old hand Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 1,474 | Clean shorty you have there, it looks real good... later...Beast Lee..."It has to have an ending to exist - Beast Lee""If it doesn't have a V8, it's not a sport - Beast Lee"

Just the cleaning up you did, ( which probably required enough elbow grease ), made a big difference. I know how you feel, it's nice driving something that's a bit different than all the plastic vehicles that are out there. Plus it's a shorty! Good luck with her!

She cleaned up nicely and the rims do definitely look better silver. Yes driving a 70's van does put you in a class of your own. Up above the plastic cars yet just below the lifted 4x4's. Enjoy cruising her with pride.

The rallies came out really nice. And feel free to post up all the pics you want. We love pictures around here.

Oh I know how to buff and have the all the stuff but there's just no desire. Well, after these photos there might be a little desire. I just look at my big van and can't imagine the time/energy needed to do it, especially in this HOT weather. I like the dark rally wheels. I guess its because I have refinished enough 9C1 wheels that the dark looks better to me? I like the silver too, especially with the amount of bright trim on that van.
