From the pics it looks like the lower body it is still just the base coat. Once it is cleared that color will literally come alive.....
All the vans I've painted I always do the roof first.Let it cure, cover it and then shoot the bottom panels of the van. It is just way too much area to try to cover all at once.....
That is a really pretty Gold......

Thick and creamy. | | | Re: Black or Gold for my 77 Chevy? | Joined: May 2009 Posts: 453 addict | OP addict Joined: May 2009 Posts: 453 | I picked up the stencils I from the vinyl shop today and started applying them to the van. It is really not too hard. I ran into a couple snags because I measured a few things wrong somehow. I need to order new art for the hood and maybe part of the long side art. Do you guys think the paint will leak under the masks if I cut and overlap them to make them shorter? The painter guy says it will leak. | | | Re: Black or Gold for my 77 Chevy? | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 573 addict | addict Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 573 | gotta say it's looking super sweet!!! Depending what the masking material used will determine if you can shorten it without issues, my guess is that you could... That said, the painter is the one applying the colours to your van & if he says it will leak, then I would go ahead and get a new mask cut... later...Beast Lee..."It has to have an ending to exist - Beast Lee""If it doesn't have a V8, it's not a sport - Beast Lee"

The hood needed to be done anyway. I totally underestimated the curve of the front of the van. Hopefully we can still shoot some flake and candy this weekend! | | | Re: Black or Gold for my 77 Chevy? | Joined: May 2009 Posts: 453 addict | OP addict Joined: May 2009 Posts: 453 | I made a little more progress today. I could have got all the lines laid out but I have to wait on the vinyl shop. So far so good though! | | | Re: Black or Gold for my 77 Chevy? | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 5,265 pooh-bah | pooh-bah Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 5,265 | | | | Re: Black or Gold for my 77 Chevy? | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 3,113 Likes: 2 pooh-bah | pooh-bah Joined: May 2006 Posts: 3,113 Likes: 2 | | | |
