Well, I had hoped for a gull setup on the slider, doesn't appear to be possible, I don't know whats next, it's too hot for working on anything, and I can't trust driving it due to the door jumping track. Looks so sweet, great job Cloudy.

Why? I've got my door off now, working on the gullwing. I know your mid Ford with the slider channel down the middle requires more finish bodywork but otherwise its the same deal to gullwing it, isn't it?

I'm looking for hinge now. It's a pain finding anything here locally so I guess I'll waste a week waiting on an eBay shipment. I want to check the local salvage yard first to see it I can find anything there to use for a more professional look.

I got a nice section of hinge from flea bay from a boat place, was already angled on 1 side and was plenty wide enough, was part for hatch on pontoon boat I think it said.....

My wife runs a local Yacht Club/Marina and I figured they would have something in that huge shop but nothing at all except light weight stainless steel. I don't want to use stainless due to not being able to weld the stainless to the mild steel.

I checked the Paxton and Grainger books, nothing.

I did check eBay but nothing quite what I'm looking for except 1 guy in NH who has a lot of stuff listed that I haven't looked through yet.

I found a welding shop locally so I'm going to check there and the local salvage yard to maybe find something more professional/factory looking.

Thanks!

I can make this 4" hinges work, just a little more binding and
cutting on the hinge and it will fit under the weather strip.
I will look at some 3" hinges too.

Looks like you're on the right track Cloudy.

I really was thinking of something hidden instead of an exposed hinge above the gulwing door until I took another look at my van and realized the big old front door top hinges and rear door hinges sticking out like sore thumbs smile

I came up empty on my hinge search today, nothing anywhere locally and nothing in the salvage yards seemed appropriate or feasible frown

If I could afford a fiberglass door, I'd go that way, no winder in it, I hate that clear looking glass, the aquarium effect. I really love this van, once it's fixed to drive, I'll be able to bring it home, I plan to save up for ac then.
