Past two owners were older and retired, so the van was takin' good care of. It has stuff done by the Explorer Company and Mark 4. The van even had all the original paperwork in it. Copy of the check and reciept too. $18000 is what he paid for it and then in spring of '83 added about $3500 more to it. It has 4 captains chairs, back seat of course makes a bed, overhead console with Presidential Cb Radio, 2 tables, tons of room and very clean. 15x10 american racing wheels 275/60r15's. Not bad for $1300.. Got plans for it tho. Update shocks and suspension, rear sags, I've added two tv's for the kids, took out the 1983 model tv, which still worked and looks new. One day would love to get it to fit 31's under it. Also some offroad lights will be added, and I have a brush guard to weld on... I get alot of compliments on it. And some people are suprised I own this van haha, they said not many 21 yr olds drive em.. But its one of the greatest vehicles Ive had. | | | Re: My '83 Vandura | Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 8 stranger | OP stranger Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 8 | | | | Re: My '83 Vandura | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 21,211 Likes: 25 Supreme Master | Supreme Master Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 21,211 Likes: 25 | Nice! I had an 84 GMC Vandura with a Starcraft conversion. It was a nice van indeed. I swapped in an 83 Chevy grille just because I liked they way those looked. Wish I had kept pictures of it.

I got mine full of dried cement in the back. It was a contractor's van that was long abused. It was well cared for, but abused just by its job usage. There was cement on everything, including the steering wheel. Anyway, I had it for years and only had to get rid of it because the front end was falling out after 380,000 miles and rust on the chassis. For what it would have cost in parts, I bought my current 1991 Chevy Beauville (too many windows), which I plan to customize since I couldn't sell it. The leaf springs get weak. You could get the main leaf recurved at any spring shop, or they can add a few leafs, or both. I've had it done before, it does wonders, especially with the added leafs. They have to give you new u-bolts too...
