Good Idea smile

Looks like I'll have to join another forum or something to get the answer.
I posted this question on a major Automotive forum and didn't get much help there.. Have a look ...

I've read here and there that a pushrod engine will provide more torque low in the RPM band while a modular or overhead cam engine's power comes in higher in the RPM band.

Then maybe my calculations were wrong.
Is there any way of confirming that??

Logged on into fordforums.com and posted a query there. Maybe I posted too much, I don't know... but there were alot of views, no replies.

Thanks for the replies on this thread guys... you've been a big help.
I guess I'm gonna have to just go with my preferred choice and hope its good or settle for a V8 engine from a current van... 5.4L Triton 16-valve Flex-Fuel V8 or 6.0L Vortec V8.....

I just came across this on the Ford site....
F150 EcoBoost torture test

Probably proof of how strong Ford's engines are....

Does anyone have something similar from GM????

Those EcoBoost engines are the next generation of Ford engine. I think they are replacing the Triton family of engines.

But how many engines did they go thru before they filmed ?

On a advertisement like that they always put up the best one they got right...every maker will pat themselves on their backs.

Im not sayin Ford,Dodge or Chevy is better.....it is up to the application of your use ....each has its own benefits

I agree that every manufacturer will always highlight only the strong points of their product; but I do believe that this is a genuine test.

A UK based program 'Fifth Gear' mentioned about how intense the testing was done on the Volvo based engine for the then new Focus. Apparently they ran the engine at max revs; just before the redline, till the engine did about 100,000 miles. Even after all that abuse, still the engine remained as strong and gave exceptional figures at the dyno.
'Fifth Gear's reviews are independent from the manufacturer and accurate, so we can take their word for it on that.

Now I wish there was a similar test from GM or an independent test for both.
