I'd decide on the mounting position and trans/transaxle first.

Yeah... Sorry about that. I just chose them out of the catalogs. Carb'd??? Which one is it??? I was hoping that all the new engines were fuel injected... at least that is what I though they were. | | | Re: Engines - Ford vs GM | Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 1,170 old hand | old hand Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 1,170 | The only ECU/FI's are the Mod and 2 LS's. | | | Re: Engines - Ford vs GM | Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,695 veteran | veteran Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,695 | You left out the Chevy 572. If I had the money, that would be my choice. My last Chevy angine had 380,000 miles on it, and it was not babied. This was in a van that was used as a work truck AND a weekend cruiser. It went to Canada, Florida and everywhere in between. When I had to junk the van (the front end was falling out), it was driven up the flatbed that hauled it away. They sold the engine, so it just goes to show that Chevy engines last really well. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Thats funny. I remember hearing that the GM 350 small-block crate motor was a fuel injected one. If that's the case why not the 427 Ford and the GM Big Blocks??? | | | Re: Engines - Ford vs GM | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 360 enthusiast | OP enthusiast Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 360 | As for reliability. No one disagrees with you there... well... maybe the few exceptionals | | | Re: Engines - Ford vs GM | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 360 enthusiast | OP enthusiast Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 360 | The only ECU/FI's are the Mod and 2 LS's. Can anyone tell me how can we find out which uses carb and which uses fuel-injection??? For me the engine should have fuel-injection.... | | | Re: Engines - Ford vs GM | Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,695 veteran | veteran Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,695 | Basically, I have found over 30+ years of working on all kinds of vehicles, that it all comes down to personal preference. If you like Fords, you'll say Fords are the best. If you like Chevys, they are the best. Same for Chrysler. I won't talk foreign. Asian or You're-a-peein', same thing. Don't like them, never will. Way too expensive to fix, and they DO BREAK, unlike what they try to tell you. RipperServing NYC/LI 347-303-7403 | | |
