I am not aware of that advertisement.

The following is a great automotive forum for everything lubrication oriented.

There is so much more to motor oil than most think.

Find the one which produces the torque in the rpm range you want, and can be made to fit in your application.

My current questions are these...
How much taller than the current Triton engines would one of those Ford pushrods be if I added an EFI system to it???
And is it confirmed that pushrod engines produce more torque???
If so, how is it that according to the sites the Ford E-series has more torque than the Express vans??? I know that GM uses pushrod while Ford uses modular.

Jeremy Clarkson is anything but unbiased. Especially anything this side of "the pond" (he even learned to hate the Ford GT that he owned). However, the BBC does strictly forbid any type of advertising or favoritism.

I totally agree, but I would decide based on what will fit. Your ducks need to get organized and into a row.

I think you got the shows mixed up.... Jeremy is from 'Top Gear' not 'Fifth Gear'... lol

Anyways about his Ford GT... He loved it, but soon issues kept crawling with the fuel consumption and the doors in tight parking spaces.... Its wasn't about hate, it was about practicality.
The Ford GT's doors are cool, but maybe a better choice for the GT would have been gullwing doors like the SLS....

Yeah, I read top and not fifth.

You are dead wrong about the SLS doors, I've heard from nobody that likes those.

The doors were popular I guess in the 60s with the Original gullwing; but weren't too practical.

I kinda like them on the SLS... but yeah.... they're not to everyone's taste. Over here we don't care much about practicality. If its got a good engine, its sold. lol

OK.. back to engines.. I happen to know that Jeremy loved the engine in the GT. Frankly I don't blame him... laugh

Decided that since I need to get the engine for a van, I would go in for one of the current van engines... i.e. 5.4L Triton V8 or a 5.3L Vortec V8..

I wonder which one out of these two would be better overall (including factors of maintenance frequency and fuel efficiency)...

Right now I'm searching through various forums to find out what issues owners have had with them...
On the upside, I did manage to find a VW LT here finally. Its one that looks like this with the same suspension and 4x4 drive...

It kinda makes me sad that I have to remove that suspension and lower it to make it look like the TMNT van. Maybe I would look into doing something that is raises the ride height for off-roading... :P
Triton Vs Vortec
Only one choice allowed

Although I own a Chevy van, I have historically been a Ford guy. And so I am actually familiar with both engines.
And although I do like the Ford 5.4, the Vortec is the better choice. That same block architecture is used in iron versions
and aluminum aka corvettes. With relative ease and minor expense they can make serious power, even using take off parts
from higher performance versions, not to mention that same block is capable of over 6.0L displacement. And there is the
rub with the Ford. As it has a much narrower model range it was used in, there aren't nearly the upgrade options as the Vortec.
And as the bore spacing is so tight, the Ford can't be enlarged much bigger than it already is. Again, a great engine, but
it can't compare to the Vortec in displacement options and the huge amount of cheap replacement and upgrade parts.
