Ford was more.... Does that mean something??? Or is this just a useless poll?? | | | Re: Engines - Ford vs GM | Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 9,428 Likes: 2 carpal tunnel | carpal tunnel Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 9,428 Likes: 2 | I guess everyone has their own personal preference. I'm a Chevy guy so I would also vote for a SBC. It is just a all around great engine. There is a reason all the hot rod guys put Chevy 350's in their rides.

LOL!!! Nice one.... Wait are you serious???..... Ford engines last longer???? According to most people I spoke to, it was the opposite. One even challenged me to look into the street and count the number of 10 year old Fords to the number of Chevys as proof. Of course there was the one or two and said otherwise...... Ford owners don't have to get on the Forum's to sort out issues like Chevy owners, so they are less likely to log on to brag about how long they run for ...They keep it secret

Another good line.... | | | Re: Engines - Ford vs GM | Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 437 addict | addict Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 437 | I have had a ford V8 go to the boneyard at 77,000 original miles. Not even ford could figure it out. I have had a chevy 305 last over 350,000 (i went 20,000 without changing the oil a few times). I think both are exceptions and luck of the draw. I prefer the small block chevy. Plentiful parts, many people know how to fix them, respond well to cheaper performance mods, and most importanly, i am more comfortable working on them. Trying to figure out why i just bought 2 dodges?

They ALL have issues and there little quirks. My dad had a Ford van with 351 that had well over 300,000 miles on it.The body lost its life to RUST before the engine gave up the ghost.Never changed the oil just added it when it needed it never let it run dry. I have a 4.3 Chevy here that had well over 200,00 on it before I pulled it.The crate 350 in my Early is in it's second body.Close to 100,000 HARD miles on it.Currently all of my "daily driver" are Chevys with 100,00 RELIABLE miles on the clock..... ........Wookee

They mounted a radiator up on the front inside a custom bull bar. The thing moved very nicely. Especially compared to my '73 2.0 Westfalia I'm not gonna jump in the ford/chevy debate. | | | Re: Engines - Ford vs GM | Joined: May 2007 Posts: 381 enthusiast | enthusiast Joined: May 2007 Posts: 381 | Why arent you considering a Porsche engine for that Vee Dub? They make some bad ass setups that work in the buses.
