You never know what you've got till it's gone. My heart also goes out to you guys. So sad and frustrating to hear about vanners going thru this.
Countryboy, even tho she's having trouble communicating with you, your being there is a comfort for her. Sometimes talking isn't necessary.
Sledgehammer and Rambler, I'm glad you know your mothers don't mean what they say. They do love you I'm sure. People say/do things they really can't control at times. I've worked as an orderly on a psychiatric unit for 11 years and have seen this plenty of times.
I lost my father in '90. Fortunately he went very quick. He was in the hospital where I worked, getting over pneumonia. I spent my brakes and lunch with him. The plan was to discharge him by the end of the week. I had visited him during my morning break one day and just before noon, I happened to be standing outside the unit he was on waiting for an elevator and they called a CPR on his unit. It was him. He came out from the bathroom ,laid down on his bed and passed. That quick. For that I'm grateful for. I miss him every day.
Thankfully, my mother will be having her 85th birthday in June. She's had a hip replacement, heart caths, bypass surgery, surgery on her vocal cords, pacemaker, diabetic on insulin and a few other things I can't think of right now. She's still plugging away. Pretty self sufficient.
You all will be in my thoughts. Don't hesitate to post anytime you want to vent. Your vannin family is there for you.

When I say say 'cherish your friends' it means everyone in your lives. Don't let the illnesses cover up the real love in your world. Moms always love, no matter what. That comes from the heart not the talking.

Keeping you in our thoughts here too!

Bryce,

I offer my deepest condolences to you and your family---I can only imagine the grief you must be going through and wish you all the best throughout this heart-rendering time. I have lost many family members in the past, but few at such a young age. I never met my grandfather on my father's side because he died of a heart attack when my father was 18. May you find strength through your family's love and cherish the times you spent with your mother---believe me, she knew how much you care about her.

Take care of yourself and remember, we're here for you if you need us.
