I don't know about Brands that much, i haven;t hooked mine up yet, BUT i've read tons about them, and the quality of the cables, fuses and misc hardware and the INSTALL is as much important, if not more so than the brand. Someone here might recognize the brand though.

yeah I have heard of that brand, but I'm no expert on brands. I have a Coleman in my van and have had no problems with it. I do recommend following installation instructions to a 'T' and make sure you put a disconnect switch in to cut it from the batteries. I learned the hard way that even when they are off they can still kill 2 diesel van batteries.

The two most important factors in choosing an inverter are it's continuous power rating and whether it is a tru-sine (sinusoidal I think is the word) inverter or not. Tru-sine inverters will cost nearly double what a non tru-sine will. The biggest difference is that a non tru-sine can wreak havoc (they say) on some sensitive electronics.

I've run a VCR, DVD, Flat TV and even our Laptop off of mine (non sinusoidal) with no issues at all.

clocks and non power transformer operated equipment (which there arent many of these days) tend to have problems running off of a non sinusoidal inverter. Most things these days will run fine off of a non sine inverter.

Tripp Lite is top of the line stuff. You may have gotten a very good deal on that one.

Don't buy the "Road Pro" line carried by Pilot gas stations and truck stops.. I bought one cause i had the money, but wasn't ready to install it yet. When i finally did install it and run my electrical system thru the paces, It pretty much failed immediately. I ran the inverter off a 125ah marine battery with a marine digital charger. I charged the battery to full charge, cut off the charger and turned on the inverter to run the mini fridge. This fridge is not a compressor type and perfect for inverters. The batteries got down to 40% and the low voltage beeper kicked on. After turning the inverter back off and turning the charger back on, I let the batts get back up to 60%. turning the inverter back on was not happening.. just continued to get the red fault light and beep like the low voltage sensor. I pulled it apart and one half of the AC section is dead. Has 2 fried switching transistors. All the wiring was checked out. the aamp draw from the fridge is very far under the 1500 continuous watt rating of the inverter. something like 500watts. it took all night long and all the next day for the fridge to get the battery down to 40%. felt very disappointed that this thing couldn't hack that small amount of power draw...

Yeah..... I know I know.... It's NOT a van... But if you squint, It could be a REALLY long van?

Tripp Lite makes a quality product, you'll be just fine with that unit.
