I picked up a Weiand Action+Plus aluminum intake and a 600 cfm Holly 4160 carb recently, and I'm just starting to get everything bolted together. So far so good, but I'm having some issues with the throttle lever and trans kickdown. The factory linkage doesn't work right with the Holley carb, nothing lines up. Has anyone out there done this swap? I know Holley makes a mopar throttle lever adapter, but I'm not sure if that will solve the problem or not. Another option would be a Lokar adjustable throttle cable and kickdown kit, anyone had any luck with these in the past?

Been awhile since I've done a similar swap, get the Holley linkage adapter trust me it'll work. The kick down wasn't a problem on mine just needed adjusting to get it set right. The kick down is critical so take your time adjusting it to factory spec.Good luck

Probably hard to find, but getting linkage from a factory 4bbl. equipped van might work too.

Lloyd's idea is probably better. smile

Another thing that might work...On my 83 slant6 with Eddy 4brl I 'home engineered' a cable throttle setup.Pulled the stock pedal and cable from a 90 Dodge TBI,drilled 2 holes to mount the pedal(it mounts to the front not side like ours) another for the cable. This gives you a nice long cable to go around the carb and pull from the back and gets rid of all the rods/bell cranks and alignment problems that you have now. That would also be a bunch cheaper then Lokar plus stock Dodge cable not special order if you needed to replace it.If you do something like that just make sure when you drill new holes that the starter relay or wiring won't get drilled and no I measured thrise and drilled once no booboo's lol

SixShot, which adapter did you use? Holley offers 2, this one, which is only 8 bucks, and this one, which is almost 30.

I'm thinking it was the 8 buck piece.Keep in mind that when I did my 318 4brl your van wasn't even built yet shocked Try that piece first and see how everything lines up then go from there. You should be able to pickup those adapter pieces from a local parts store, might cost a bit more then Summit but no waiting.

i have an Edelbrock carb and manifold so this might be different. that $8 looks like the one i used. the rod closest to the carb is the cruise control. i got a piece of aluminum from Lowes and bent it to use from carb linkage to the setup behind carb. it is about 1 inch longer then the stock one. on the kickdown linkage to the trans i screwed it out as far as i could and added a bolt and nut to get it out farther so it would shift correctly. the piece that everything hooks to is the stock piece but i dremmeled it down and made new notches and drilled a small hole through for the pin to go through. had to make it shorter so it didn't hit the black rod from gas pedal to rear linkage. workin pretty good but i really have to mash the pedal too get it to kick down, still need to adjust a little. i still need to do a little fine tuning but i'm happy with it . i haven't seen what others are doing but there has to be many 4 barrels on out there. hope this helps somewhat[Linked Image] [Linked Image] [Linked Image]

Hey Kid,, Woodchuck here,, I just took my Holley off of the 73 and installed a Elder. Basiclly looks like the same linkage as 86's pic. showed and didn't have to change a thing.. Being that you are going from a 2 to 4 barrel will present a little more different but Holley kit should help you out.. If you need help with anything give me a call.. Glad to see that you are still vannin and hope to see you again..

I went ahead and ordered both pieces from Summit, I'll just return which ever one doesn't work. I also ordered a trick little throttle return spring assembly, manual choke cable, some chrome valve covers and a chrome 14" air cleaner, and some other dress-up goodies. I've been taking plenty of pics, which I'll upload as soon as the swap is complete. Even if she aint too pretty on the outside, at least the engine will look good, hopefully run good too. Thanks for the input guys, its been a big help.
