I put the "new" carb and she fired right up. Let the engine warm up and then it wouldn't idle so I made a few adjustments to the carb and the engine just won't idle right and it's running rough.
I pulled the wire to no. 3 and no. 7 cylinders and the engine sounded the same with no drop off or anything. Tells me somethings amiss on those two cyls. Plugs are good, wires are good, cap/rotor are brand new, etc. I guess next step is a compression check to see if those cyls are doing anything at all. This is a brand new engine so I don't know what's really going on and I don't have the equipment at my house to do a whole lot of diagnostics. Guess I'll have to break down and have it towed to the place that put the engine in and let them figure it out.
I'm running out of patience.

Unless it is running that bad. Considering you really have NOT put ANY miles on a freash engine it should still be under some type of warrenty, Call them on Monday morning and see what they say.
Did you pull the plugs to see if they where fouled, or are you assuming they are good because they are new.
You can foul a new plug as easy as a worn one.

Thanks for posting that Doc; I never heard of that before. Got to be on our guard for everything anymore... I wonder if some innovative Chinese businessmen figured out how to incorporate Melanine in the wires... Bad enough that they poisoned our children, now they've graduated to poisoning our vans! Clear skies!

I tell them it has something to do with the mural she wants on it but that will have to wait. Before Dec 09 we can get new names or keep the same ones,I am hoping she will change it. We have VANSRUS on Alice's 2000 Astro & VANSRUS on my 96 Safari, normally you can't duplicate but since one is registered as a car & one as a truck you can. VANVIDA(LIFE) is on the Chop Top Van. I want to change them to something else but don't know what. Sorry didn't mean to high jack your thread. Good luck on your van. | | | Re: 85 Dodge "Root Beer" | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 21,211 Likes: 25 Supreme Master | OP Supreme Master Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 21,211 Likes: 25 | Drive it back there Nate. Yeah...I'm going to give those folks a call. The engine has a 3-year/100,000 mile warranty. So if it turns out to be something mechanical, it should be covered. I didn't pull the plugs, but I guess I could just to see if they are okay.
