This was Very hard to do as we used a Silicone adhesive instead of a silicone sealer around all the fasteners. Seemed like a good Idea at the time... Wrong. I tugged and pulled until I thought I would Damage the visor or the Paint. Then I just gave up and walked away and avoided it for a couple weeks. Hoping the visor would just be sitting on some horses when I came back in the shop, I guess. That didn't happen so Sunday I went to my guru's house(Joe Godwin of J&J Fiberglass) for a few cold beverages and we started talking about it. I needed a fresh Idea and he came through just like always, Inexpensive and effective. He said "try a bondo spreader from the side and cut through it and it shouldn't hurt the paint" Well it worked so well that I had to share it here. It took two hands and still alot of pressure and rocking back and forth between the first and second screw holes but made headway each rock and it poped loose thats the reason for the blue tape. It did pop against the drip rail but no damage. I use a big one for the center mounts and shoved it through from the bottom and then lifted the rear corners up and used a small spreader for the back holes [Linked Image]
Off it came wiout any damage and to my suprise all the wildlife under there, a dragonfly and several japanese beetles and some large bees and a butterfly or two..YUK... [Linked Image] Got some clean-up there. [Linked Image]
So now it's off and we can let the pro's seal up the windshield right.

Now thats a trick doug! I sold my visor off of my van at Keystone and also found lots of lovely little creatures smashed up under there. you sure do have some purty paint.

Wow Phoenix, that really did work out well! Glad it left your paint unscathed.

For a cutter, I would have suggested using an unwound guitar string. That's what we use to cut the RTV that's used to hold telescope mirrors to their mounts. You can snake guitar strings into all sorts of tight spots, and they're highly polished.

I'm pretty amazed at the curvature of your visor in the last picture - I'd never have guessed it from looking at it installed on your van. I think it might even have more curvature than mine!

Try to find out what your glass guys use as a sealer - curious minds would love to know!

Clear skies!

On my old silver van I found a bird. Me and another guy who was a driver for the Hydraulic shop I was working for had a practical joke thing going on beteen us , I just could not resist and I tried, Believe me, I wrapped it up in a rag and placed it under his driver seat in his delivery truck. It was february and when april hit and the weather turned warm he came up to me and said .." where is it and what is it???"
...lol We did alot of stuff to each other, those days were fun...

I am thinking of sealing it myself anyway as I think when I tell them That they will be responsible for a five digit paint job they might let me know

Found under plywood floor in my old '80. Was flat but still intact. Not yet petrified but preserved. LOL
